Growing up I was always reading something. Nothing was better than a good story! I began writing my first novel as a freshman in high school, but then got distracted by life and soon the work load of college and then teaching took me away from the world of fiction.
I studied foreign language in college graduating in the top 10 percent of my class as an undergraduate. I completed my Bachelor's in French, Spanish and Education in 2001. I began teaching secondary French that same year. I completed my Masters of Secondary Education in French in 2006 with a GPA of 4.06. I was inducted into both Alpha Chi (a National Honor Society for those in the top 10 percent of their graduating class) and Delta Phi (for those who show excellence in French studies during their Master's work). During my college studies I was able to not only study abroad in France but also to discover various styles of Francophone literature including works by the masters: Hugo, Flaubert, Baudelaire at Maupassant but also African and Caribbean authors as well.
A year ago I read a vampire series (which will remain nameless) that not only reignited my passion for literature, it inspired me to write. I longed to immerse myself in the world that I created, telling the tale that was unfolding in my mind. A little over a year later and I have almost finished the first draft of my novel! I am excited to be able to share what I have worked on so diligently.
Ironically during this process I have had half a dozen other stories plant themselves in my brain so I am excited to say that writing is something I will continue to do even after my current project is completed. I have been gifted with my muse and I plan on taking advantage of it! Being a fledgling writer has left me thirsty for critiques and while I have grown a lot from the little experience I have had, opinions can only make me a better writer.
Feel free to look through some of my work and help me improve! I look forward to reading your thoughts!
